About Ms. Mandrell

My name is Jen Mandrell and I have been the Library Media Specialist at DuBose Middle School since 2008.

Prior to becoming a librarian, I was a classroom teacher, so in total, I have 23 years of experience in the education field. I grew up in Northwest Indiana but moved to South Carolina in 1999. I received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, and both a master’s and doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina. My husband, Lee, and I have 3 children and 3 dogs.

I have always loved to read, and growing up, I spent a lot of my time in the public library near my home. My favorite part of my job is helping students find the perfect book and igniting a love of reading in the students of DMS!

About Ms. Kirk

My name is Whitney Kirk, and this is my first year as the DuBose Middle School Media Assistant.

Last year I worked in the Media Center at DuBose as the Educational Technology Assistant, and I am excited to get to spend another year as a Wildcat!

I graduated high school in northern West Virginia and attended college at Cincinnati State. My husband and I moved to South Carolina in 2019 with our three kids. We enjoy traveling to see new places and spending days near the water. We have a Goldendoodle, Skiff named after our love for boats. I appreciate any downtime I get to sit and listen to a good audiobook or watch a documentary. My favorite thing to do is spend all day at the beach and trying a new restaurant afterwards.

Policies

6th and 7th graders may check out a total of 2 books.
8th graders may check out a total of 3 books.
Books are checked out for 3 weeks at a time.
Books may be renewed for 3 more weeks, as needed.
Books 4 or more weeks overdue will have the replacement cost added as a fee in PowerSchool until the book is returned or fee paid.
Books damaged beyond repair will result in the replacement cost added as a fee in PowerSchool.
